Level I – Water Exploration -This course orientates
participants to the aquatic environment and teaches elementary skills.
Children should be able to go underwater and demonstrate a readiness
to learn.
Level II – Primary Skills -Build on the fundamental
aquatic locomotion: Front crawl with rhythmic breathing, back crawl,
elementary backstroke,
finning and exploring deep water.
Level III – Stroke Readiness - Front and back
crawl, elementary backstroke, reverse directions, rotary breathing,
endurance and treading
water are some of the skills taught at this level.
Level IV - Stroke Development- Diving in stride and
standing positions, endurance work, breaststroke, sidestroke and turns
are primary skills
in this level.
Level V – Stroke Refinement- Coordinating and
refining the key strokes from level II – IV. Introduction of the butterfly dolphin
kick, open turns, surface dives and spring board diving techniques
are taught.
Level VI – Skill Proficiency- Polishing all strokes presented
in previous levels. Participants will work on swimming the main strokes
with greater ease, efficiency, power and smoothness over greater distances.
